A not so high Germany
The debate on the legalization of cannabis has been going on in Germany for several years, and more and more voices have been heard demanding a change in the country's legislation in the area. One of the biggest arguments is the comparison of cannabis VS alcohol. According to a 2019 survey, more than half of German citizens are in favor of the legalization of cannabis for personal use.
In 2022, the government announced that cannabis would become legal. The bill presented last October proposed that it would be allowed for adults via sales in specially licensed stores. Some combination of the Netherlands' tolerance to the drug and the structure of Sweden's alcohol monopoly. Type Cannabisbolaget, then.
But apparently it didn't happen that way. Or yes, maybe a little anyway.
The plans seem to have been re-directed after talks with the EU, where they then decided to water it down a bit. Instead, you must have "cannabis clubs" with up to 500 people where you have to grow it yourself. Type allotment for potheads then?
There will also be a small adjustment to the legality itself as it will be decriminalized as it will be permitted to possess smaller amounts (up to 25g).
A step in the right direction or a slippery slope?
Why don't the cows smoke straw anymore?
Because it made them high on the hooves! (not sure if this joke works in english)
